Spike Jonze and Joaquin Phoenix May Be Reuniting For a Sci-Fi Limited Series For Netflix

The last feature film that Spike Jonze directed was Her, the 2013 movie that starred Joaquin Phoenix. Between then and now he’s directed short films, music videos, and a Beastie Boys documentary. Well, it turns out that he’s been working on a new sci-fi limited series for Netflix that might star Joaquin Phoenix.

This is a project that Jonze has been “quietly working” on and it’s been described as “lavish.” The series hasn’t been officially announced yet but it’s reported that it does have a writer’s room put together, which is obviously currently on hold due to the writer’s strike.

Jonze has reportedly been writing the project, and is also going to direct. One of the interesting things that was noted is that the project is “on track to be one of the most expensive shows in Netflix’s history.”

The report says Phoenix has been offered the lead role in the series, but there’s no word on if he’s accepted it or not. It would be cool to see Phoenix and Jonze work together again! Phoenix will next be seen in the Ridley Scott historical epic, Napoleon.

According to insider DanielRPK, Jonze is also working on an animated series for Netflix, but there’s no connection to this sci-fi project.
