SPY X FAMILY Season 2 and Original Film Launch This Year
Crunchyroll made my weekend! Over the weekend, during AnimeJapan 2023, the anime streaming service shared that not one, but two SPY x FAMILY anime projects coming this year. First, fans can look forward to more Forger family action and hijinks this October with the premiere of the second season. Then, an original film called SPY x FAMILY CODE: White will release on December 22. This is freaking exciting news for me!
World peace is at stake and secret agent Twilight must undergo his most difficult mission yet—pretend to be a family man. Posing as a loving husband and father, he’ll infiltrate an elite school to get close to a high-profile politician. He has the perfect cover, except his wife’s a deadly assassin and neither knows each other’s identity. But someone does, his adopted daughter who’s a telepath!
I’ve been getting caught up on the SPY x FAMILY manga lately and there’s some incredible things on the way. Honestly, I’m a little surprised that the first season ended where it did instead of having about one more episode to have the introduction of Twilight to Desmond. The second season will definitely be just as much fun to watch and I think it will be more intense at times. Also, I cannot wait to hear the new opening and closing credit songs. SPY x FAMILY has incredible music.
CODE: White is a big surprise to me. It’s an original anime film and we don’t know much about it. We know that Takashi Katagiri will be directing it with Kazuhiro Furuhashi supervising the film while working on the second season. Kazuaki Shimada is going to be the main anime character designer with Kana Ishida helping on the film as sub anime character designer. Ichiro Okouchi is writing the film. I wonder what is going to happen in CODE: White.
Both the series and film are being produced by WIT Studio and CloverWorks. I really want to know what CODE: White has in store and I am excited for some of the moments from the manga to be brought into the second season. Where do you think season 2 of SPY x FAMILY will end?
