Villain and Star-Lord's Dad Have Been Cast in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2
Marvel and director James Gunn have already cast the actors who will play Star-Lord’s father and the film’s villain in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Gunn confirmed the news himself during a Twitter Q&A. Of course, he didn’t reveal who had been cast, so we are still left to speculate on what exactly the director has planned.
It makes sense that these characters have already been cast. After all, the director recently did a script read with the full cast of the film, and I imagine these actors were present for that. Kurt Russell has been rumored for the role of Star-Lord’s dad, which would be amazing if that were actually the case.
We still have no confirmation of who exactly Star-Lord's dad is in the film, or who the main villain will be. My favorite Theory is that his dad is Starfox, and there was a recent rumor that Ego the Living Planet might be one of the villains, which would sure be interesting.
The movie is set to be released on May 5th, 2017. With the movie deep in development, I’m sure Marvel will start releasing some additional information in the near future. I also included a recent photo of Gunn rehearsing with a few of the actors that the director posted. It came with the following caption:
When someone's screwing up a scene during rehearsals I show them Dave Bautista (Batista) as an example of good acting. With Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, and Sean Gunn. #GotGVol2 — with Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista (Batista) and Sean Gunn.
