Harry Potter actor Jason Isaacs has joined the cast of CBS' Star Trek: Discovery, and he will take on the role of Captain Lorca, who is the Captain of the Starship Discovery. This is a major role in the series, and he stars opposite the lead played by Sonequa Martin- Green, who will be referred to as "Number One".
Isaacs joins a prestigious list of actors who have played Star Trek Captains over the years, including William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew and Scott Bakula.
The new series also stars the previously announced cast that includes Doug Jones as Lt. Saru, a Starfleet Science Officer; Anthony Rapp as Lt. Stamets, an astromycologist, fungus expert, and Starfleet Science Officer; Michelle Yeoh as Starfleet captain Georgiou; and James Frain as Spock's father.
Star Trek: Discovery is set on a new ship and will follow new characters who emabark on new adventurous missions while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.
Isaacs most recently co-starred in the Netflix drama series The OA, which he was great in.
