STAR WARS: AHSOKA Actress Ivanna Sakhno on Creating Her Character Shin Hati
For the most part Star Wars fans have been enjoying Dave Filoni’s long-awaited Ahsoka series. This has been such an enjoyable installment to Star Wars and it has introduced some interesting new characters. One of those characters is the villainous Shib Hati, who is played by Ivanna Sakhno.
She comes across as a very cold-hearted, rage-filled, and skilled force-wielding character and in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sakhno talked about her character’s personality, saying:
"She's very calculated. She's impatient, but she's a seeker. She's only in the beginning of finding her own voice. The actual ship and a lot of the aspects of the physical world were built for the show. I do remember sitting inside of my [cockpit] and really [feeling like] my younger self as a kid, looking around. All the buttons are working, and you feel like it's your childhood dream coming true. You really feel like a pilot in a ship. And you get to do this for a living."
Sakhno went on to reveal how Filoni encouraged her to create the character, saying:
“He really cherishes the opinion of every person. Creating Shin, I just felt like my involvement mattered. Because she's a new character, we got to create parts of her from the very beginning. With the costume and makeup, it felt like storytelling."
Shin is the apprentice of Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson) and it’s been interesting to see their story arcs play out. I’m curious to see where it ends up and if Shin’s future in the Star Wars universe is going to go beyond the Ahsoka series.
