STAR WARS: GALACTIC RACER Gameplay Trailer Reveals High-Speed Podracing

If you thought podracing peaked in 1999, think again. During PlayStation State of Play, Fuse Games hit the throttle and dropped a slick new gameplay trailer for Star Wars: Galactic Racer, giving fans their best look yet at the high-speed chaos coming to consoles and PC in 2026.

First revealed at The Game Awards last December, Star Wars: Galactic Racer didn’t show much beyond its premise. Now we’ve seen it in motion, and it’s looking like a full-on arcade racing blast set in that galaxy far, far away.

The trailer dives straight into the action, showing off colorful tracks, familiar podracers, and some deep-cut surprises. Yes, Sebulba is back. Ben Quadinaros is back. Seeing those prequel-era racers tearing across new tracks instantly taps into that Episode I energy, but this time it’s wrapped in modern visuals and fast, responsive gameplay.

Fuse Games, alongside publisher Secret Mode, confirmed that the game is set to launch in 2026. There’s no exact release date yet, but players can already wishlist it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows via Steam.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is classic arcade racing reimagined through a Star Wars lens. Players will compete in The Galactic League, an underground racing circuit operating out in the dangerous Outer Rim.

The setting lands in the New Republic era, placing the action after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi. That opens the door to a mix of old and new Star Wars lore, characters, and locations.

One of the standout details from the Steam listing is the variety of vehicle classes. Each class features its own physics, which should keep races feeling fresh instead of repetitive.

There’s also a vehicle building system, letting players fine-tune their racers, along with a multiplayer ranking system for competitive play. If the online mode delivers, this could become a serious time sink for fans who love chasing leaderboard glory.

The trailer also confirmed multiple planetary tracks, including the ever-dusty Jakku. Watching podracers rip through desert wreckage with Star Destroyers looming in the distance feels like a natural evolution of the concept introduced in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

Longtime fans will probably feel a wave of nostalgia here. The whole vibe calls back to classics like Super Bombad Racing from 2001 and the legendary 1999 Star Wars Episode I: Racer. Those games carved out their own space in Star Wars gaming history, and Star Wars: Galactic Racer looks ready to carry that torch into a new generation.

The engines are warming up and 2026 can’t get here fast enough.
