STAR WARS: VISIONS Volume 3 Is Reportedly Already in Development
Disney+ recently released Star Wars: Visions Volume 2, and I enjoyed the stories and the animation styles of the segments. I actually really enjoy these Star Wars shorts, and I’m so impressed by the storytelling and how these different creative teams can pack so much into these shorts, which manage to pack a solid punch!
I would love to see more from this Star Wars: Visions project, and it looks like that is going to happen! According to One Take News, Lucasfilm has already starred development of Star Wars: Visions Volume 3! I imagine that means they already have a line-up of new animation studios working on these shorts, but those details have yet to be revealed.
Each of the segments created for this series features a distinct animation style and a unique story set in a version of the Star Wars universe. There’s no doubt that they will continue to push the boundaries of Star Wars storytelling.
The series is developed by executive produced James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, and Josh Rimes. If you haven’t watched Volume 2 yet, you should! It consists of nine episodes and the titles of those episodes are “Sith,” “Screecher’s Reach,” “In the Stars,” “I Am Your Mother,” “Journey to the Dark Head,” “The Spy Dancer,” “The Bandits of Golak,” “The Pit,” and “Aau’s Song.”
The creators of these segments come from different studios in countries around the world including El Guiri (Spain), Cartoon Saloon (Ireland), Punkrobot (Chile), Aardman (United Kingdom), Studio Mir (South Korea) Studio La Cachette (France), 88 Pictures (India), D'art Shtajio (Japan), and Triggerfish (South Africa). It’s also pointed out that D'Art Shtajio's short was made in collaboration with Lucasfilm Ltd. (United States).
Waugh previously said: "The reaction to the first volume of Star Wars: Visions blew us away. We were delighted that this project inspired and resonated with so many people. We always saw Star Wars: Visions as a framework for celebratory expressions of the franchise from some of the best creators working today. Animation is in a global renaissance, and we're constantly staggered by the amount of creativity pushing the medium forward. With Volume 1, the imaginative minds of Japan's anime industry were on full display. With Volume 2, we expanded our canvas to take audiences on a global tour of some of the most talented creators from around the world. We're so proud to be able to reveal the line-up of studios we've assembled. Every short is incredible, full of heart, scope, imagination, and the values that make stories distinctly Star Wars – all while opening up bold new ways of seeing what a Star Wars story can be."
Are you a fan of these Star Wars: Visions shorts, and are you excited to see more?
