Storyboards Reveal Delated FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS Moment: Sue Storm Meets Mole Man

Newly revealed storyboards from The Fantastic Four: First Steps give fans a peek at a deleted scene that never made it to the big screen, and it features Sue Storm facing off with Mole Man deep in the heart of Subterranea.

Artist Simeon Wilkins has shared a fresh batch of storyboards showing a sequence that was left on the cutting room floor. The scene featured Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm confronting Paul Walter Hauser’s Mole Man underground. It was one of several sequences trimmed to keep the film under the two-hour mark.

Both Kirby and Hauser have expressed their disappointment in the scene being cut. Kirby described one of her favorite lines from that moment:

“I could give you an aneurysm if I wanted to in two seconds”, as a powerful expression of Sue’s strength and resolve. Hauser echoed the sentiment in a Letterboxd review, writing, “I wish they hadn’t cut my scene with Vanessa Kirby. First world problem. I’m stoked that I got to be in a Marvel movie.”

Even with limited screen time, Mole Man left an impression. Hauser’s brief appearance had fans calling for more, even suggesting a spinoff set in Subterranea. He was quickly inducted into what some fans have dubbed the “5-Minute Crusher Club,” reserved for characters who absolutely steal the show in minimal time.

In addition to Wilkins’ work, storyboard artist Richard Bennett also shared his depiction of one of the movie’s biggest moments, Sue Storm using her powers to force Galactus into a teleporter, banishing him to the other side of the universe. While the sequence was in the film, Bennett’s boards provide an alternate visual take on the dramatic climax. You can see those, here.
