Super Fun Trailer for MINIONS & MONSTERS Unleashes Hollywood Chaos and Classic Creature Madness
Illumination is back with more yellow-fueled insanity, and the latest trailer for Minions & Monsters looks like it’s bringing a whole new level of ridiculous fun to the franchise.
As the third prequel spin-off in the ever-growing Despicable Me universe, this one swings big with old-school Hollywood, classic monster vibes, and a fresh batch of Minion mischief that spirals completely out of control.
The film is set to premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival this June before hitting theaters on July 1, and based on this new footage, it’s leaning hard into its wild premise.
The film introduces us to an “entirely new tribe of Minions, who find themselves in Hollywood at the dawn of cinema. Our heroes are two brand-new Minions: James and Henry.
“This is the rambunctious, ridiculous, and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world, and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created.”
The trailer drops us right into 1920s Hollywood, where the Minions are doing what they do best, causing absolute chaos.
There’s a fun twist this time around as one of them decides filmmaking is the dream, which leads to a string of increasingly unhinged attempts to create the perfect movie monster. Naturally, nothing goes according to plan.
Things really take a turn when they accidentally unleash a bizarre but oddly lovable green creature from a mysterious book. From there, it’s a mix of slapstick destruction, monster mayhem, and classic Minion antics as they scramble to fix the mess they created.
The film is directed by Pierre Coffin, who’s been a driving force behind the Despicable Me series from the start, and he co-wrote the screenplay with Brian Lynch.
The voice cast is stacked with talent including Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, Trey Parker, Bobby Moynihan, and Phil LaMarr.
The film looks like it’s blending the franchise’s signature humor with a monster movie twist that feels fresh without losing what makes the Minions so entertaining.
If the trailer is any indication, Minions & Monsters is a full-on chaotic love letter to early Hollywood and creature features, filtered through the most unpredictable characters in animation. Enjoy!
