SUPERGIRL Actor David Krumholtz Says Movie Will “Clarify What The House Of El Is All About”

The upcoming DC Studios film Supergirl is shaping up to be something truly special, and according to David Krumholtz, fans are in for a deeper dive into Kryptonian history. The actor, who plays Kara’s father Zor-El, says the movie will expand on the legacy of the House of El and shed light on its values and complexities.

“It’s very true to the graphic novel that it’s based on, Woman of Tomorrow,” Krumholtz shared in a recent interview. “Which is great. I’m thrilled to be sort of the next piece of telling the story of Krypton and sort of further clarifying what the House of El is all about.”

With Krumholtz’s Zor-El at the heart of that story, audiences may finally see how Kara’s family differed from Jor-El and Lara, especially after James Gunn’s reinterpretation of Superman’s parents in the new DCU continuity.

Krumholtz also confirmed another exciting detail that’s sure to get fans talking: “Everybody knows that Jason Momoa is playing Lobo in it... it’s [the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow] comic plus Lobo.”

The movie is based on the beloved Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, a cosmic adventure that follows Kara as she journeys across the galaxy to celebrate her 21st birthday with Krypto the Superdog, only to be pulled into a revenge-fueled quest alongside a young girl named Ruthye.

Supergirl stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, and Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira.

There have also been reports that David Corenswet’s Superman will appear in newly filmed scenes.

Fans can look forward to seeing Supergirl soar onto the big screen when the movie hits theaters on June 26, 2026.
