SUPERMAN: LEGACY Concept Art Reportedly Features Beloved Actor as Jor-El Along with Jimmy Olsen and Brainiac Drone
Fans are getting excited to see what James Gunn is going to do with his take on the Man of Steel in his upcoming movie, Superman: Legacy. The director has already cast David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific.
Now we have info to share regarding an intriguing rumor that involves a couple of characters that may appear in the film, and who may play them. The r/DCEULeaks page has shared some intel from what they claim is a verified source.
The report says they've allegedly spoken to someone who claims to have seen and personally worked on some of Superman: Legacy's concept art.
According to this leaker, they've seen Jor-El, and they say:
"He's drawn as being tall, and I mean REALLY tall. Like, above 7 feet at least. His costume is sort of a mix between armor and fabric, with the armor bits being like a baby blue and the fabric being a crystal-y white. He has a blue House of El crest on his chest which glows, kind of like an LED. And here's the fun part. Take this with a grain of salt, as a ton of concept art uses random actors' faces on characters, but the specific art I've seen features Kurt Russell's face on Jor-El."
Kurt Russell! That would be so awesome! And the actor already worked with Gunn on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, where he played Star-Lord’s other-worldly father, Ego, so a cameo role as Jor-El would make sense.
It was also reported that Skyler Gisondo’s (Santa Clarita Diet, The Righteous Gemstones) face is said to have been added to Jimmy Olsen concept art, and there are claims that artwork depicting a Brainiac Drone was also seen. While that doesn't necessarily mean the villain will be in this movie, the groundwork may well be laid for a future appearance. As for what that looks like, it's "a generic gray robot with green highlights" that features Brainiac's "signature headpiece."
Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
Superman: Legacy is set to be released in theaters on July 11th, 2025. What do you think of these possible characters and castings?
