SUSPIRIA Director Luca Guadagnino Will Reportedly Direct SGT. ROCK Movie For DC Studios
According to a new report, DC Studios head James Gunn, has reportedly hired Luca Guadagnino (Suspiria, Bone & All) to direct a Sgt. Rock movie.
Justin Kuritzkes has also been brought on to write a new script for the film. Guadagnino and Kurizkes have already collaborated on films such as Challengers and the currently-unreleased Queer.
It was Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider who initially linked Luca Guadagnino with the DC project and it was ultimately confirmed by Nexus Point News in an exclusive reveal.
This is definitely a different kind of project for Guadagnino to take on as he doesn’t seem like the kind of director that would want to make a comic book movie.
Sgt. Franklin "Frank" Rock was created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert and he’s primarily known for his leadership role in the World War II-themed comic series Our Army at War, which was later retitled Sgt. Rock. First appearing in 1959, Sgt. Rock is depicted as a tough, no-nonsense infantry soldier who leads Easy Company, a group of battle-hardened soldiers in the European Theater of World War II.
Rock is characterized by his unwavering sense of duty, exceptional combat skills, and strong loyalty to his men, often serving as both a father figure and a protector.
His stories are gritty and grounded, focusing on the brutal realities of war, the camaraderie among soldiers, and the personal cost of battle, making him one of DC’s iconic military heroes.
I’m a fan of Sgt. Rock and I would love nothing more than for this to turn out to be a badass DC movie set during World War II.
