Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried Face Off in the Twisted New Trailer for THE HOUSEMAID
Lionsgate released a gripping new trailer for The Housemaid, and it looks like the holidays are getting a little darker this year. The upcoming domestic thriller from Paul Feig pits Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried against each other in a sleek, psychological power struggle that’s dripping with secrets, seduction, and danger.
The Housemaid arrives as some perfectly chaotic counter-programming to Avatar: Fire and Ash. Feig, fresh off Another Simple Favor, takes on another stylish mystery, this time adapted from the bestselling novel by Freida McFadden.
In the film, Sweeney stars as Millie Calloway, a young woman with a messy past who takes a live-in maid job for the wealthy Winchester family.
At first, it seems like the perfect opportunity to start over, but as she settles into the grand estate, things take a sinister turn. Seyfried plays Nina Winchester, the enigmatic and elegant matriarch whose life seems picture-perfect—until Millie starts peeling back the layers.
The trailer teases a dangerous game of manipulation between the two women, with plenty of tension simmering beneath the surface.
The official synopsis reads: “The Housemaid plunges audiences into a twisted world where perfection is an illusion, and nothing is as it seems. Trying to escape her past, Millie (Sydney Sweeney) accepts a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar).
“But what begins as a dream job quickly unravels into something far more dangerous – a sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal, and power. Behind the Winchesters’ closed doors lies a world of shocking twists that will leave you guessing until the very end.
The supporting cast includes Michele Morrone and Elizabeth Perkins, each adding to the film’s simmering sense of unease. While Feig is best known for his sharp comedies (Bridesmaids, Spy, Ghostbusters), his flair for tension and character dynamics seems to be front and center in this movie.
From the looks of it, The Housemaid delivers the kind of psychological warfare and dark intrigue that fans of Gone Girl and A Simple Favor will enjoy.
The Housemaid opens in theaters on December 19th, 2025.
