Sylvester Stallone's Superhero Drama SAMARITAN Moves Forward with The Director of OVERLORD
Earlier this year it was announced that Sylvester Stallone would star in and produce a new superhero thriller called Samaritan. Deadline is now reporting that MGM has hired Julius Avery (Overlord) to direct the film, which will start shooting next year.
The film’s story is based on an original idea that will center on a boy who sets out to discover if “a mythic superhero, who vanished 20 years earlier following a tragic event, is still alive.” I imagine that Stallone will take on the role of that hero.
The script is being written by Escape Room‘s Bragi F. Schut and Avery had this to say in a statement:
“Sly is a hero of mine, I’m incredibly thrilled to be working with such an iconic actor on this very special project with Balboa Productions and MGM.”
Stallone’s Rambo: Last Blood was just released in theaters and hopefully, that’s the last Rambo film that he makes. I’m looking forward to his future film projects though, like Samaritan! This could end up being a fun movie. The concept is certainly intriguing.
