Taika Waititi Confirms He Will Return as Korg in THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER
A couple of months ago it was reported that actor and director Taika Waititi would return to reprise his role as Korg in Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Well, now he is confirming the news himself. He recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and talks about it in the video below around the 6:43 mark.
He doesn’t offer any details about how Korg will be utilized in the film, but it was previously reported that Korg will “have a much larger supporting role in the fourth film.”
The last time we saw Korg was in Avengers: Endgame, and he was hanging out with Thor in New Asgard on Earth during a time where the God of Thunder was struggling with some heavy depression and battling himself. We also see that he enjoys playing video games. He has clearly become a close friend of Thor, so it makes sense that he would have a big part in Thor’s next adventure. Waititi also reveals that he recently completed the second draft of the script.
Thor: Love and Thunder will also see the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who will become The Mighty Thor in the movie. There’s also a chance that Foster’s breast cancer story arc could be included in the story. Waititi previously talked about that, saying:
“I think that’s a really powerful part of the books. I think it’s really cool that she’s fighting this thing and there’s two battles going on. Personally I really love that storyline. But whether it ends up in the film is yet to be seen. We’re not sure if we’re going to do a complete lift of that whole storyline. These things change through the shoot and even when we’re editing sometimes. Like, ‘Let’s get rid of that storyline where she’s got breast cancer.’ We’ll change it to something else, or maybe she’s fine.”
Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theaters on November 5th, 2021.
