Temuera Morrison Says Boba Fett Talks "Far Too Much" in His STAR WARS Solo Series

The Book of Boba Fett star Temuera Morrison has some thoughts on how Boba Fett is being portrayed in the live-action Star Wars series. In fact, the actor thinks that Boba Fett is talking a little too much. During a recent interview with NME, Morrison even says that he tried to pass some of his lines off to Ming-Na Wen!

"I was not very successful, I was hoping not to say as much as I have already in the first two episodes. I speak far too much. In fact, in the beginning, I was trying to pass my lines on to Ming-Na [Wen]. I said: 'Excuse me director, I really feel that Ming-Na should say these lines, 'cause I wanna stay mysterious. I wanna stay quiet.'" 

In response to that comment, Wen said, "He wasn't just trying to be a very generous actor — which he is — he was just trying to parlay some of the work to me (laughs)." Morrison goes on to recall calling writer Noah Kloor while Jon Favreau was away and asking him about cutting out some of Boba Fett's lines to maintain that mystique he was talking about:

"Sometimes, I'd say [to Favreau], 'I think this is too much, I think this is too much.' I said: 'Noah, this scene tomorrow. I'm talking too much! This Boba Fett doesn't talk this much. Look, I've got all these paragraphs. I think we should get rid of it and Jon's going to Atlanta so don't tell him!'"

“Then, that morning on set, I get a call from Atlanta: 'Jon wants you to say all that dialogue. We'll cut it out later.' (laughs) So he was even keeping an eye on us from all areas."

I think Morrison has a point as Boba Fett was always a man of few words, then all of a sudden now he’s a lot more talkative. The guy has his own series now though, so of course, they are going to want to have him talking more.

Director Joe Johnston, the original concept artist who helped create Boba Fett, previously shared his thoughts on the return of the bounty hunter in the series. He explained that he would have never shown Boba Fett’s face, to help maintain the mystery of the character:

"I never would have shown his face. I would never have had an actor underneath where he takes the helmet off and you see who it is. I think that eliminates a lot of the mystery. Before that helmet comes off, he can be anybody."

I do think keeping the mystique of Boba Fett would have benefited the show and the character in certain ways, but I’ve been enjoying the show for the most part and I’m looking forward to seeing how his story arc continues to play out.
