Temuera Morrison Wanted Boba Fett to Show Up in THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU: “Maybe Help Them Out With Something”
Temuera Morrison was hoping to see Boba Fett ride back into the action in The Mandalorian and Grogu, and some fans have been wondering why one of the franchise’s most iconic bounty hunters didn’t factor into the story, especially considering where the film takes place and the connections it has to characters from Boba Fett’s corner of the galaxy.
During a recent interaction with a fan who mentioned that he wished Boba Fett had appeared in the movie, Morrison shared:
"I was hoping to pop in there, too, and maybe help [Din Djarin and Grogu] out with something," Morrison told a fan who said that he hoped Boba would've made an appearance. "They might want him back one day… you never know."
I’m not sure exactly how he would’ve factored into the story that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni wanted to tell, but it’s pretty reasonable to think that Boba Fett will return one day.
Boba Fett already has a strong connection to Din Djarin and Grogu after appearing in Season 2 of The Mandalorian. He played a major role in Episodes 6, 7, and 8, helping the heroes during some of the show's biggest moments.
His return to the Star Wars universe was one of the highlights of that season and set the stage for his own spinoff series, which ended up dissapointing fans.
Considering that Boba’s story in The Book of Boba Fett ended with him taking over Jabba’s former throne, there could’ve been a connection there. But, this movie wasn’t the place for the character to return.
Boba Fett has been sitting on the sidelines since The Book of Boba Fett wrapped up its lone season on Disney+ in 2022. Morrison has previously suggested that the reception to the series may have affected the character’s future within the franchise, leaving many wondering if Lucasfilm has any concrete plans for him moving forward.
For now, Boba Fett is absent from The Mandalorian and Grogu, but Morrison doesn’t sound like someone who has given up hope. And with Star Wars always finding ways to bring fan-favorite characters back into the fold, his comment feels less like a goodbye and more like a reminder that there’s still room for the legendary bounty hunter somewhere down the road.
As Morrison put it, "They might want him back one day… you never know."
