THE BATMAN: PART II Release Pushed Back a Whole Year; Won't Arrive Until 2026
Warner Bros. has announced that the release date for Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II has been pushed back a whole year. The movie was moved from October 3, 2025 to October 2, 2026.
The delay is most likely due to last year’s lengthy writers and actors strikes. We’ve got a long wait ahead of us before we see Robert Pattinson suit up again as the protector of Gotham City.
While we wait, though, we’ve got Colin Farrell’s The Penguin series coming later this year, and the events of that will lead into The Batman sequel. There have been reports that Batman will appear in that series, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
It’s also been reported that the story for the sequel will be at least partially based on Geoff Johns' Batman: Earth One. The first film of which took a certain amount of inspiration from Vol. 1, so I guess that means the sequel would be more influenced by Volumes 2 and 3.
Batman: Earth One is set in an alternate universe where Bruce Wayne is struggling to find his purpose as Gotham City's protector. With the help of Alfred Pennyworth, a former SAS operative, Bruce embarks on his journey to confront both familiar and new villains along the way. The story explores the psychology of Batman as he seeks justice in Gotham. Hush is also said to be one of the big villains in the movie.
