THE BATMAN: PART II Set Videos Show the Batmobile Smashing Through Gotham City PD Cars
Some awesome new footage from the set of The Batman: Part II has made its way online, and Batman is apparently having a rough night with the Gotham City Police Department.
Several new videos from the set offer three different angles of a chase involving the Batmobile and a swarm of GCPD squad cars. The cops manage to surround Batman and box in the Batmobile, but keeping him there is another matter.
Batman punches the gas, slams the Batmobile into one of the police cars, breaks through the blockade, and takes off. It looks pretty damn cool!
The best footage comes from an overhead angle, where the entire chase feels less like a carefully coordinated movie stunt and more like someone happened to catch Batman tearing through Gotham in the middle of the night.
As one fan who reposted the footage perfectly put it, we should "add to the 'holy shit [Batman] is real' folder."
That grounded quality was a huge part of what made Matt Reeves' first The Batman work so well, particularly when it came to the Batmobile. Watching that monster of a car barrel through police vehicles makes for exactly the kind of practical Batman action I want to see in the sequel.
One of the videos may also give us a small glimpse at another major cast member. Robert Pattinson's stunt double can be seen in the car alongside a blonde woman who appears to be a stunt double for Scarlett Johansson.
Johansson has joined the sequel in an undisclosed role, so there's still plenty of mystery surrounding how her character fits into the story.
The movie also stars Sebastian Stan, and his character remains unknown. Early rumors pointed toward Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, but Stan showing up on set with a shaved head has sparked another theory that he could actually be playing serial killer Victor Zsasz.
We'll have to wait and see what Reeves has planned. We do know The Batman: Part II takes place only a few weeks after the events of The Penguin Season 1.
Colin Farrell is returning as Oz Cobblepot, and Andy Serkis is also back as Alfred Pennyworth, along with Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Jim Gordon.
The sequel has certainly taken the long road to theaters. It was previously scheduled for October 2025, but after multiple delays, The Batman: Part II is now set to arrive on October 1, 2027.
That's still a wait, but watching the Batmobile smash its way through a wall of Gotham cops certainly makes the prospect of returning to Reeves' Gotham a lot more exciting.
