The Bluefin X-Wing Model Is a Quick STAR WARS Model to Build and a Lot of Fun

A couple months ago, Bluefin was kind enough to send me the new Millennium Falcon model for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Then, they recently sent me the model for the X-Wing models, and it was a lot of fun, and a lot faster. The X-Wings aren’t as big as the Falcon and have fewer small pieces, which helps the construction happen faster.

I’m really happy with the end product, and I can’t wait to have more space in my office to better display it. If you do decide to get the model, I would highly recommend getting a marker to panel line the model. The model is designed so that you don’t have to paint it if you don’t want to (like me) or there’s a color guide on the back of the instructions if you do want to paint it. Another big bonus is that it comes with a stand! If you don’t want it on a stand, the X-Wing does come with landing feet as well.

One thing that has me puzzled is that there are some extra parts of different colors. I guess they did this so you could have a few extra options to choose from, but the instruction labels are all for the green and grey pieces from the box art. There are almost enough extra pieces for you to build two X-wings, but some key parts are missing. I’m really not sure what the deal here is.

I do have a problem with the instructions, though. Included in the box are water decals and stickers to help add detail. The problem is that the instructions for the water decals do not include all the steps necessary to attach them. After feeling like a failure for being incapable of getting the decals to stick, I did some Googling and found that you do need other materials in order to actually get them to stick.

A problem I have with the actual model is that the R5 unit easily falls out. There’s no way to secure it at all. It’s very loose, and it’s annoying because it does have grooves as if it could be secured. This is one area where they could definitely improve things.

This is a great project for any fan of Star Wars, and I love how this turned out. I haven’t painted the pilot or R5 figures yet, but I do plan on painting them as there are only stickers for some parts. You can check out pictures of the finished model below and you can order the model from Amazon now.
