THE CONJURING Spinoff Movie THE CROOKED MAN Has Been Scrapped
The Conjuring spinoff film The Crooked Man is no longer moving forward. The terrifying character first appeared in The Conjuring 2 in 2016, and in 2017 it was announced that franchise director James Wan would be making the film. He previously talked about the movie, saying:
“With The Crooked Man, I would love to push it more down somewhat of that dark fairytale, and more whimsical, subgenre. I love the idea that, within the Conjuring universe, each of our little movies all have their own flavor, so that way they don’t feel like they’re the same films."
Things have been pretty quiet concerning the project since, until this week when Wan himself shared a photo of himself with The Crooked Man, and made the announcement on social media, saying:
"Throwback to my tall friend, the Crooked Man played by the incredible [Javier Botet]. Javier's movement was almost supernatural, some people knocked the character for being CGI," Wan shared in a post on Instagram. "I filmed him in slow-mo and reverse playback -- all old-school camera trickery. And no, unfortunately the spin-off movie with this character isn't happening. Outside of my control. But maybe one day."
It’s too bad this creepy character won’t get his own movie, but like Wan said, “Maybe one day.” Would you still like to see this movie happen?
