The Fantastic Four Will Reportedly Outshine The Avengers in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is heading into some crazy territory with Avengers: Doomsday, and a surprising new rumor suggests that the Fantastic Four team, not The Avengers, will take center stage in this highly anticipated MCU film.
Could Marvel’s first family actually outshine Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? The initial plan for Doomsday revolved around Kang the Conqueror as the central antagonist.
However, following Jonathan Majors' legal issues, Marvel Studios pivoted to a new narrative that introduces Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, a fan-favorite villain with deep ties to the Fantastic Four.
According to Hollywood scooper MyTimeToShineHello, the film will be heavily focused on the Fantastic Four. In a recent post on X, they shared, “Doomsday will focus on the F4 and then the 616 Avengers.”
The Fantastic Four’s MCU debut comes with The Fantastic 4: First Steps on July 25, 2025, and it will most likely set the stage for Avengers: Doomsday.
This report makes sense when you consider the history betweem the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom. In the comics, Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Victor Von Doom have a rivalry that has influenced countless Marvel storylines.
With Doctor Doom being the main villain of the Fantastic Four, telling a story that is more tied to the Fantastic Four, rather than the Avengers, feels organic and true to the source material.
As for when Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will first be interoduced, I think it’s a safe bet he’ll appear in The Fantastic 4: First Steps. I can see the storyline build directly into Avengers: Doomsday, creating a solid story arc.
Avengers: Doomsday is slated to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
