The Hit Horror Film BARBARIAN Is Getting a Video Game Adaptation
Director Zach Cregger’s 2022 hit horror movie Barbarian is getting a video game adaptation. That game is being developed by New Regency Pictures and Diversion3 Entertainment, and it will be set in the world of Barbarian.
Diversion3 has developed some horror movie games in the past and those include Friday the 13th: The Game and Evil Dead: The Game, which are actually really well-made games! So, it looks like this Barbarian game is in good hands and I’m sure they’ll deliver a creepy-ass game.
Yariv Milchan, Chairman and CEO of New Regency Pictures, offered the following statement in regard to the game: “Expanding the Barbarian universe into gaming provides a new way to capture the horror that made the film such a success. We’re thrilled to collaborate with the incredibly talented team at Diversion3 Entertainment to immerse new and existing fans in this world.”
The game will tell a new story rather than replicate the story that the movie told, which I like. I like it when stories are expanded in other mediums like this.
The movie follows a young woman, who arrives at her Airbnb late at night only to find that it has been mistakenly double-booked and a strange man is already staying there. Against her better judgment, she decides to stay the night anyway but soon discovers that there is much more to be afraid of in the house than the other house guest.
The Barbarian video game currently has no release date.
