THE LAST OF US Series Co-Creator Says Fans "Will Eat Up" New Backstory to an "Important Character" in Season 2
Naughty Dog boss and The Last of Us series co-creator Neil Druckmann recently opened up a little bit about the upcoming second season. He said fans of the game are going to be pretty happy with the next season a new back story they have planned for an important character.
During an interview with Variety, Druckman said: "And there’s stuff in this season that I’m really excited about – stuff that we hinted at – one scene in particular comes to mind that I think fans of the game will eat up, because it really kind of tells you a lot of backstory of this important character that there wasn’t really a way for us to even do that in the game.”
He doesn’t offer any other details, so it will be interesting when we watch this new season and see how the story plays out and see what new backstory that he’s talking about.
The Last of Us takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed by a deadly virus. Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone to the Fireflies, a cure-searching organization.
What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
