THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER Blu-ray Comes With Deleted Scenes and an Alternate Opening
Universal Pictures’ The Last Voyage of the Demeter is coming to Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital soon on October 17th, and it’s going to be loaded with goodies in its special features. I enjoyed this movie, it was a lot of fun and I loved how it felt like an old Hammer horror film.
If you haven’t watched it yet, it’s a horror movie worth checking out! The Blu-ray release will include over 30 minutes of bonus content including an alternate opening, deleted scenes, and behind-the-scenes featurettes that showcase the making of the film. As someone who liked the movie, I’ll be looking forward to watching all of this stuff!
The film was directed by André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark). The film’s story focuses on one chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel, it’s a unique story that follows the voyage of Dracula as he terrorizes on the high seas. Also, the creature effects were done practically, and the work they put into it was very impressive.
It’s “based on a single chapter, The Captain’s Log, from Bram Stoker’s classic 1897 novel Dracula. The chapter tells the story of the Russian schooner, Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo – twenty four unmarked wooden crates – from Carpathia to London. The film will detail the strange events that befell the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a terrifying presence onboard the ship. When it finally arrived near Whitby Harbour, it was a derelict. There was no trace of the crew.”
