The Latest Trailer for Netflix's WHEN THEY SEE US About the Central Park Five

Last month we reported that Netflix is coming out with a four-part series entitled When They See Us, chronicling the story of the Central Park Five, five young teenaged boys of color who were falsely accused of the violent attack and rape of a woman in Central Park, New York in 1989.

The first trailer focused on the trial and conviction of the boys, while this new trailer shows them as men who’ve spent the end of their childhoods and beginning of their adult lives in prison for something they didn’t do, and are now trying to acclimate to life.

The series was written and directed by Ava DuVernay (Selma, A Wrinkle in Time), and has an incredible ensemble cast that includes Jovan Adepo (Fences), newcomer Asante Blackk, Marsha Stephanie Blake (Orange Is The New Black), Emmy Award Nominee Michael Kenneth Williams (Vice, 12 Years a Slave), Academy Award Nominee Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel, The Departed), Emmy Award Winner John Leguizamo (Bloodline, Waco), Academy Award Nominee and Emmy Award Winner Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives, Trans America), Emmy Award® Nominee Niecy Nash (Getting On, Reno 911), Emmy Award® Winner and two-time Golden Globe Nominee Blair Underwood (In Treatment, Give), Emmy Award and Grammy Award® Winner and Tony Award® Nominee Christopher Jackson (Hamilton), Joshua Jackson (Dawson’s Creek), Omar Dorsey (Selma), Adepero Oduye (12 Years A Slave), Famke Janssen, Aurora Perrineau, Dascha Polanco, William Sadler, Jharrel Jerome, Aunjanue Ellis, Kylie Bunbury, Storm Reid, Chris Chalk, Freddy Miyares, Justin Cunningham, Ethan Herisse, Caleel Harris, and Marquis Rodriguez.

This story is harrowing and would be hard to believe if it weren’t true. The acting looks phenomenal, and I can’t wait to get into it. Check out the trailer below, and let us know if you’l be tuning in to watch When They See Us on Netflix this Friday, May 31st.

See the continuation of the stories of the now-exonerated men known as the Central Park 5: Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise. When They See Us is based on a true story that gripped the country in 1989.
