THE LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA Renewed For 5th and Final Season as THE MIGHTY NEIN Locks November Premiere

Critical Role fans got big news at San Diego Comic-Con as the beloved animated series The Legend of Vox Machina has officially been renewed for its fifth and final season.

But before we say goodbye to Vox Machina, there’s another adventure on the horizon. The Mighty Nein, Critical Role’s next big animated project, finally has a release date of November 19 on Prime Video.

Season 4 of Vox Machina is set to debut in 2026, continuing the story that began with the iconic first campaign from the popular Dungeons & Dragons livestream, and for longtime Critters, this final season promises to raise the stakes like never before.

Season 3 of the series left fans with a bittersweet victory. The heroes defeated the dreaded dragons of the Chroma Conclave but seemed to part ways afterward. Of course, the final scene teased a terrifying twist with the rise of Vecna, one of Critical Role’s most infamous villains.

Season 4 will pick up with the party scattered across Exandria before a “cataclysmic threat” forces them back together.

As creators Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham put it,

“It’s so rare for any television series to get to tell a complete story, beginning to end, exactly as it was envisioned. We’re so grateful to our fans, the critters, our partners at Prime Video, and the original Kickstarter backers for bringing this show to life, and turning the numbskulls of Vox Machina into animation legends.”

The cast, of course, remains the same ensemble of Critical Role veterans includingLaura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Liam O’Brien, Matthew Mercer, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, and Travis Willingham, each reprising their beloved characters.

Bailey voices the sharp-eyed ranger Vex, O’Brien plays her roguish twin Vax, Willingham is the hulking barbarian Grog, Johnson returns as Pike the cleric, Jaffe is Percy the gunslinger, Ray plays the druid Keyleth, and Riegel brings the outrageous bard Scanlan to life. Mercer, naturally, voices countless others as Dungeon Master.

While fans wait for the final showdown with Vecna, Prime Video will take us to a different corner of Exandria. The Mighty Nein follows a new band of misfits, fugitives and outcasts bound together by secrets, on a mission to stop reality itself from unraveling.

The official logline reads:

“‘The Mighty Nein’ follows a group of fugitives and outcasts, bound by secrets and scars. But when a powerful arcane relic known as ‘The Beacon’ falls into dangerous hands, they must learn to work together to save the realm and stop reality itself from unraveling.”

Just like the original, the main cast returns with new roles: Bailey as the mischievous Jester Lavorre, Willingham as Fjord Stone, Riegel as Nott the Brave, Ray as Beauregard Lionett, Jaffe as Mollymauk Tealeaf, and Johnson as Yasha Nydoorin.

The spinoff also boasts an incredible lineup of guest stars including Mark Strong, Alan Cumming, Tim McGraw, Anika Noni Rose, Ming-Na Wen, Auli’i Cravalho, Rahul Kohli, Robbie Daymond, and Jonathan Frakes.

With Vox Machina’s epic story coming to a close and a brand-new saga beginning, it’s an exciting time to be a Critical Role fan.
