The Live-Action ONE PIECE Series Gets a Collection of Character Posters
Netflix recently released a collection of character posters for its highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of the hit manga series One Piece. The posters feature Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Romero Gibson), and Sanji (Taz Skylar).
It’s so hard to adapt anime/manga projects into live-action, but if they actually manage to capture this spirit of the story and these characters, and they tell a strong story, then the fans might just enjoy and embrace it. I do like the energy that I’ve seen in the trailers that have been released.
One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew as they explore a fantastical world of endless oceans and exotic islands in search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as “One Piece” to become the next Pirate King.
Steven Maeda is a co-writer, showrunner, and executive producer on the series along with Matt Owens, who is also co-writing and executive producing. The series also stars Morgan Davies (The Evil Dead) as Koby, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino (The Sex Lives of College Girls) as Alvida, Aidan Scott (Action Point) as Helmeppo, Jeff Ward (Hacks) as Buggy, McKinley Belcher III (Ozark) as Arlong, and Vincent Regan (Troy) as Garp.
The 10-episode series comes from Tomorrow Studios and One Piece publisher Shueisha. Open Piece will be released on August 31st! Excited?!
