THE MANDALORIAN Actor and Director Carl Weathers Wants To Direct a Greef Karga Movie
Carl Weathers has had the awesome opportunity to not only star in episodes of Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian series but also direct some episodes. He seems to be enjoying his time in the Star Wars sandbox and he wants to continue playing in it.
During a recent interview with HypeBeast, Weathers shared that he would love to direct a Star Wars spinoff movie that focuses on Greef Karga. He said:
"I would love to direct a movie that centers around Greef Karga, covering his journey as High Magistrate of Nevarro. I love the issues of the pirates, Empire, resurgences, Moff Gideon – there’s so much good stuff in there. Those elements would be fantastic to put into one screenplay to see where Greef Karga ultimately winds up."
Karga was a former disgraced magistrate before running a guild of bounty hunters on the planet Nevarro. Early on in the series, Greef was portrayed as a pragmatic and shrewd businessman, who is willing to work with anyone if it benefits his own interests. But, he’s now embraced his softer side, particularly towards Din Djarin and Din Grogu, whom he has grown to care for over the course of the series. Weathers went on to say that it would also be cool to see a much younger version of the character, saying:
"It would be cool to see him as a youngster. Diving into those formative teenage years, watching him learn both bad habits and good ones. See what transpires as a result of that as we build the man that we see today."
I think that would be a cool concept to explore! I’d be interested in seeing his early history explored and the kind of crazy adventures that he embarked on. Would you like to Weathers direct a Star Wars film that centers around Karga?
