THE MARVELS Director Says "Superhero Fatigue Absolutely Exists"; Will It Affect Her Movie?

There has been talk about superhero movie fatigue for years, and if it’s something that would ever actually hit. Well, it has, and we’re in the middle of it now. When it comes to Marvel Studios, I’ve always said that as long as they kept pumping out great quality stories and films I’d be excited about the movie they make. But in recent years, that quality has definitely dropped and the excitement has died down with it.

During a recent interview with Total Film magazine, The Marvels director Nia DaCosta was asked what she thought about MCU superhero fatigue and she said: “I think superhero fatigue absolutely exists.”

The question is, will that superhero fatigue affect her movie? She goes on to explain how she hopes her upcoming movie stands out above the other superhero films saying:

“The biggest difference from the other MCU movies to date is that it’s really wacky, and silly. The worlds we go to in this movie are worlds unlike others you’ve seen in the MCU. Bright worlds that you haven’t seen before.”

So, she hopes introducing new worlds will get people into theaters to watch her movie? Nope. The right answer is the quality of the story and the quality of the filmmaking. Just show us that real effort was put into giving us the best film possible! That’s what will get people excited again!

The Marvels executive producer Mary Livanos also talked about the movie and said they’ve targeted this film to those fans excited to see these three characters come together. She said:

"The Avengers movies are these epic conclusions to chapters of storytelling, whereas this is a team-up within the narrative that we didn’t necessarily expect for Marvel. Usually, you wait for characters to show up all together in Avengers movies. We were excited to design a team-up featuring characters that women from all walks of life could relate to."

I think the movie looks like it’ll be fun, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of excitement from a lot of the fans. At least, that’s what I’m seeing from the reaction of fans on social media.

The movie stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan. In the movie, the three characters have become linked causing them to physically swap places every time they use their powers. It turns out that the villain in the film is out for revenge and is the cause of this insanity in their lives.

The film also sees the franchise returns of Samuel L. Jackson, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur. New cast members include Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon.

The Marvels is set to hit theaters on November 10th.
