The Massive Budget For THE FLASH Has Been Revealed

The Flash is easily one of the biggest and best films that have come out of DC Studios and it didn’t come cheap. There’s a lot of money that goes into making these kinds of movies and with this one, it cost Warner Bros. $220 million to make.

The budget was revealed by The Flash production designer Paul Austerberry (The Shape of Water, IT: Chapter Two) during an interview with CBC, and he said: “This movie is a big deal for Warner Bros.” While The Flash is getting a lot of hype, it still has yet to be seen if the movie will be a hit for the studio or not. The movie carries a lot of baggage, but we’ll find out soon enough if audiences will show up to see if the hype is real.

Just to give you an idea of where this budget stands with other DC films, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 1984 and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam both had a $200 million budget. Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel had a $225 million budget, Batman v. Superman had a $263 million budget, and the troubled Justice League film cost $300 million.

It’s explained that The Flash was filmed in "two different chunks.” One chunk was filmed with Miller playing the present-day Barry Allen and the second chunk was filmed with Miller playing Barry's younger self from an alternate timeline.

According to Austerberry, Miller would switch roles every few days. The production took place from February 2020 to October 2021, and he added that the actor would work six days a week with only three days off during the entire shoot, "So, a lot of pressure.” In the end, director Andy Muschietti delivered a hell of a great movie.

I got to see the film at CinemaCon last week and we were completely blown away by it. There is just so much cool stuff that happens in the movie, stuff that fans don’t want to miss out on! The movie may have cost a lot of money, but you definitely see all of it up on the big screen.

In the film, "Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian... albeit not the one he's looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry's only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?"

The movie also stars Michael Keaton, who is back as Batman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Michael Shannon as Zod, with Ron Livingston and Maribel Verdú who are playing Barry’s parents. Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Derry Girls), Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and internet personality Rudy Mancuso will also appear.

The Flash will be released on June 16th 2023.
