The MS. MARVEL Series Will Reportedly Introduce Red Dagger and the Inhumans Character Kamran

Marvel Studios is deep in the process of developing its Ms. Marvel series, which will focus on the story of Kamala Khan. The series will also be introducing some new characters to the MCU, and it was previously rumored that some of those characters might be Inhumans.

It was previously reported that the studio was looking to bring in Black Bolt and Maximus and that Vin Diesel and Aaron Taylor-Johnson were in considerations for those roles. The Illuminderdi is now reporting that another Inhumans character is being cast for the series and that character is Kamran.

In the comics, “Kamran was the centerpiece of a multi-issue arc in which Kamala becomes reacquainted with the MIT-bound hunk after not seeing each other since they were young children. In the run, Kamala is immediately smitten by Kamran who seems to have everything in common with her, including being an Inhuman. He has the ability to charge his body with bioluminescence and then transfer that energy into inanimate objects, which makes them explode into bright light. Kamala is ultimately double-crossed by her crush, so it will be interesting to see how this character is adapted in the series.”

Another character that is reportedly being cast is a character named Red Dagger, a.k.a. Kareem. This character also “had a long familial connection with the Khan family. His mother and Kamala’s aunt were friends since their school years. Kareem lives in Khan’s family home in Pakistan and pursues his studies by day, all while operating as a vigilante in Pakistan at night. He lacks superhuman powers but shows an advanced prowess with an array of throwing daggers.”

With such strong ties to Kamala Khan, it totally makes sense to include these two characters in the series.

As for Ms. Marvel, she is a shapeshifting Muslim Pakistani-American teenager from New Jersey who becomes the newest holder of the Ms. Marvel identity. She is the youngest of two children from a traditional Pakistani family. Her powers have been described as polymorphous, meaning she has the ability to stretch and change her shape.

Despite her traditional roots, Kamala was the typical American teenager. Wanting to be herself, but still make her family proud. For several years, Kamala was a fan of superheroes especially the Avengers and, more importantly, Carol Danvers. So much, in fact, that she started writing online fan-fiction about the Avengers and Captain Marvel. Even going as far as joining the Carol Danvers Corps online.

Four Weddings and a Funeral’s Bisha K. Ali is set to serve as writer and showrunner of the new series, and as a fan of Kamala Khan’s story, I’m excited to see how this Disney+ show turns out.
