The New DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Trailer Features a Funny Rob Liefeld Joke That He Approved
Marvel Studios treated fans with an awesome new trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine recently and there were a lot of fun details and Easter eggs for fans to find and enjoy.
One of those Easter eggs includes a joke at the expense of Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, and it was a joke that he actually approved because he has a sense of humor!
The joke is featured in a scene where Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) are walking down an empty and destroyed city.
In the background, you can see one of the stores is called “Liefeld’s Just Feet.” The artist confirmed that he approved the joke almost a year ago. You can see his social media post below.
The Easter egg is in reference to a long-running joke about Liefeld’s inability to draw feet in the comic books that he’s developed. In fact, a large majority of Liefeld’s work features no feet with the character’s legs often covered or drawn in a way to hide them.
There was also a crack about this in Deadpool 2. There’s a scene where Domino (Zazzie Beetz) is showing off her mutant abilities, and Deadpool jokes that having luck isn’t a real superpower and was probably created by “some crackpot” that “can’t draw feet.”
In the film, Deadpool attempting to recruit Wolverine to help him save his universe. As you might imagine, Wolverine is initially down in the dumps and isn’t interested. So, the two end up fighting a lot before he agrees to join Deadpool on his adventure.
This comes after the Merc with a Mouth is taken by the TVA where he learns he has a higher purpose to save the Sacred Timeline, a job that he wants Wolverine to help him with.
The synopsis reads: “After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis. Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman.
“But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement. He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival but ultimately, their legacy."
It’s also explained: "That f–king irresponsible hero Deadpool will change the history of the MCU with Wolverine!?"
The confirmed cast for the movie also includes Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen in a TVA Agent, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al.
They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. It was previously confirmed that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie.
