The New Female-Led GREATEST AMERICAN HERO Reboot is Moving Forward at ABC
A few months ago it was announced that the classic 80s series The Greatest American Hero was going to be rebooted. However, this next version of the series would focus on a female superhero.
I loved the original series! That was one of the shows I didn't want to ever miss when I was a kid. The theme song is still engrained in my mind. William Katt was so freakin' entertaining as the main character. He played a teacher in the show, who is asked to be a superhero using a special alien suit with powers he can barely understand or control.
It's been confirmed that ABC is moving forward with the reboot and they have officially ordered a pilot episode. The new series follows Meera, "a 30-year-old Indian-American woman from Cleveland, Ohio, whose talents include drinking tequila, singing karaoke and not much else." Then, like the original series, aliens come into the story and "entrust her with a super suit to protect the planet, and the world has never been in more unreliable hands."
I really do hope that this reboot turns out to be fun and that it's worthy of the original series. I'll definitely give the series a shot. It's hard to believe that they'll be able to capture the wonderfully cheesy spirit of the original series. Do you think this will be a good series?
