The New KARATE KID Movie Starts Shooting and There's a Photo From the Set
Production has officially started on the new Karate Kid movie, which stars Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan, who are reprising their iconic roles from the franchise.
The movie also stars American Born Chinese actor Ben Wang as the next Karate Kid, and there’s a photo from the set featuring Wang holding the clapboard.
Macchio will reprise his role as Daniel LaRusso, and Chan will take on the role of Mr. Han, the kung fu master from the Jaden Smith movie. The movie will “mark a continuation of the mythology of the original franchise.”
The film’s story will be set on the East Coast and focus on “a teen from China (Wang) who finds strength and direction via martial arts and a tough but wise mentor (or two).”
The movie will be directed by Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F***ing World) from a script written by Rob Lieber, with Karen Rosenfelt producing.
Karate Kid also stars Joshua Jackson in an undisclosed role and is set for release by Sony Pictures on December 13, 2024.
