The New Lineup For The B.P.R.D. Team in The HELLBOY Reboot Revealed Along With Other Characters
Some additional information has surfaced regarding director Neil Marshall's Hellboy reboot. That info involves some of the characters that we'll reportedly see in the movie. These characters are on top of David Harbour's Hellboy, Ian McShane's Professor Broom, and Milla Jovovich as the Blood Queen, who is the main villain.
We recently learned from creator Mike Mignola that the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.) would play a part in this new movie but that it would put the main focus on the title character. There are several members of the B.P.R.D. team, and Splash Report reveals the team members who will be involved with this new reboot. Here are the details that their inside source offered them:
You will see the B.P.R.D. HEADQUARTERS, which is on a snow-capped mountainside, you will see arcane artifacts: cryptid skeletons, freakish things encased in formaldehyde, period weapons. Fans will also get to see the symbol of a hand holding a sword, with the words: IN ABSENTIA LUCI, TENEBRAE VINCIUNT.
Who are the members of the B.P.R.D. this time around?
- Abe Sapien
- Alice Monaghan: She can hear dead people. She will also use the Spirit Wrack.
- Major Ben Daimio: rugged military type with cold, calculating eyes, close-cropped hair and three jagged scars raked across his grizzled face. Has a cool transformation, which I can not spoil.
It's a different lineup from Guillermo del Toro's films, but it's good to see that Abe Sapien will be in the movie! I'm curious to learn who ends up playing these roles. Abe isn't going to be the same without Doug Jones. That was just one of those characters he was born to play. They go on to reveal a few other characters that are included in the film that aren't part of the B.P.R.D. crew. Those characters include:
- Gruagach, a fairy creature that looks like a pig and is a vengeful adversary of Hellboy. He blames Hellboy for his current state and wants revenge.
- Baba Yaga the witch.
- King Arthur
- Merlin
Very cool characters! It will be interesting to see how they are brought to life and portrayed in the movie. The story of the film will also take place in London, where it will shoot. There are going to be plenty of dark creatures in the movie and apparently on of the will even wrap themselves around London Bridge!
We've heard time and time again that this next Hellboy movie is going to tell a dark horror tale that will play out more like a horror film, which is something I'm looking forward to. The more that I learn about this movie, the more excited I get about seeing it.
