The Original Plan For SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Movie Involved Kraven The Hunter
According to Tom Holland, Spider-Man: No Way Home was originally a completely different movie, a movie that involved the introduction of classic Spider-Man villain Kraven The Hunter. Holland recently talked about director Jon Watts’ initial plan in an interview with Collider, saying:
"For a long time, there was going to be a Kraven movie that was going to be the third movie because things weren’t working out and all sorts of different stuff. Jon pitched me this Kraven movie, which actually was really cool. I don’t want to talk about it in case that movie ends up happening down the line, but it was fun."
There were reports early on that Kraven would be a part of the third Spider-Man film, but obviously they decided not to take things in that direction. While I’m excited about the the upcoming film, I would have loved to see a story that involved Spider-Man being hunted down by Kraven!
The good news is, Kraven is coming! Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who played Quicksilver in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, is set to take on the role in a solo film that’s in development. That film could eventually lead to Spider-Man facing off with the character.
There’s a description that came with the casting announcement, describing the character as being of Russian origin, with "superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, and reflexes." It goes on to say that this "maniacal big-game hunter seeks to defeat Spider-Man to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world." He’s also described as a "Bourne-like bounty hunter.”
It’ll be interesting to see how things play out with Spider-Man after Spider-Man: No Way Home. I just hope that one day we do get to see Kraven hunt down Spider-Man.
