The POKEMON DETECTIVE PIKACHU Sequel Will Be Helmed By PORTLANDIA Co-Creator Jonathan Krisel

Legendary Pictures is looking to move forward with its Pokemon Detective Pikachu sequel and they are hiring Portlandia co-creator Jonathan Krisel to direct the film. The first film was directed by Goosebumps director Rob Letterman, and that ended up being a fun flick!

That first movie starred Ryan Reynolds, Ken Watanabe, Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton, and I imagine some members of the cast will return to reprise their roles in the sequel, but casting has yet to be confirmed. According to the report, “Reynolds will have some part to play in the upcoming sequel.”

The first movie is centered around Smith’s character, whose father is kidnapped. He teams up with Pikachu (Reynolds) to help find him. Newton played a journalist who helps them on their quest and Ken Watanabe played a new character created for the film named Detective Yoshida.

The script for the sequel is being written by Chris Galletta (The Kings of Summer), but as of right now we don’t know what the story will entail. However, we all know it will take fans on another fun Pokemon mystery adventure.
