The Predator Will Be the Hero in Director Dan Trachtenberg's PREDATOR: BADLANDS
Director Dan Trachtenberg breathed life back into the Predator franchise with his movie Prey, and now he’s developing two more Predator movies, one of which is titled Predator: Badlands.
We’ve got some really interesting details to share for the new movie, which is going to give fans something very different in regards to the Predator. In this story, the predator will be the hero of the story.
Trachtenberg revealed this information in a recent interview with Empire. He said: “The creature is front and centre, leading the charge. He’s still badass, but there’s something there that touches you emotionally, too. Creating a character you connect with, but are also super-intimidated by, has been challenging. But exciting.”
He explained that the idea came from a desire to “find another essential piece of cinema that does what Prey did spiritually — pushing the franchise’s boundaries, letting us root for a hero we rarely get to root for — but in a different way. And that transformed into this big idea of rooting for the Predator.”
I love this! It’s such a cool idea to tell a story where the terrifying and deadly Predator alien hunter is actually the hero! This is going to be really freakin’ fun!
Elle Fanning also stars in the film and plays multiple characters, and when talking about her role in the story, the filmmaker said: “She faced intense challenges on this movie — dramatically, physically, logistically.”
The logline for the film reads: "A groundbreaking film in which one of the two main storylines delves into the intricate bond of two very different sisters, their familial ties are put to the ultimate test as they pursue divergent paths and missions."
What do you think about the Predator being built up as a hero to root for in Badlands?
