The Punisher Reportedly Set For Major Role in SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY

Marvel fans, especially Punisher diehards, are in for a treat. A new rumor has surfaced about Spider-Man: Brand New Day that could make this upcoming MCU entry a must-watch for fans of Frank Castle.

The film, which sees the return of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, is currently in production with Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) directing. While there's plenty to get excited about, it's Jon Bernthal’s return as The Punisher that’s grabbing the spotlight.

According to reliable scooper Daniel Richtman, “Bernthal’s Punisher will have the biggest role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day compared to the other supporting heroes who appear in the film.”

That’s a big update considering the appearances of other MCU characters like Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and potentially Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. If true, it means Punisher won’t just be a cameo or background player. He’s going to be right in the thick of it.

The idea of Frank Castle crossing paths with Peter Parker is exciting in itself, but giving him a major role opens the door to gritty, intense storytelling that could inject a different flavor into the Spider-Man series.

Richtman also shared that Holland is currently taking a “short break” from filming, but the action isn't slowing down.

“His stunt double will continue filming action scenes with Scorpion and other villains.” That confirms the return of Michael Mando as Marc Gargan aka Scorpion, a character we haven’t seen since Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The film also features returning cast members Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned, while newcomers like Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Trammel Tillman have joined the project in undisclosed roles.

Official plot details are still being kept under wraps, but with so many moving parts and now the possible major involvement of The Punisher, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be one of the most exciting entries in Phase 6 of the MCU.

The film hits theaters on July 31, 2026, and will be followed by Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
