The RIVERDALE Companion Series SABRINA Lands a 2 Season Order at Netflix

A couple months ago we learned that The CW was developing a Riverdale companion series based on the Sabrina the Teenage Witch graphic novel called The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Netflix has just grabbed the series adaptation and they have already ordered two seasons that will consist of a total of 20-episodes. According to THR, the development team is now on the hunt to cast the series.

I am slowly getting through Riverdale. A lot of people keep telling me how good it is, but I'm really having a hard time getting into it. Whenever I say I'm quitting they keep telling me to keep going. I keep wondering if they're just messing with me!

Anyway, this Sabrina series sounds much more like something I could be into.

Sabrina reimagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age tale that traffics in horror, the occult and witchcraft. It's described as in the vein of Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist and finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while fighting the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.

Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist are two of my favorite horror film so if this series actually goes that deep into dark horror territory, it will have my attention.

Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as chief creative officer of Archie Comics, write the script. Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater and Lee Toland Krieger, will direct.  The plan is to shoot both seasons one and two back-to-back all throughout next year from February to October.

Netflix seems like it would be a good home for the series. CW executive VP of marketing and digital Rick Haskins, previously said that more people were watching Riverdale on Netflix than on the CW network because apparently, some people thought it was a Netflix show to begin with.

Now, they'll actually have a Netflix show to play with! Are you looking forward to seeing the Sabrina series? Are your expectations higher now that the series is being developed for Netflix?
