The Russo Bros. Discuss The Effects That "The Snap" Had On People in AVENGERS: ENDGAME
The end of Avengers: Endgame brought about huge changes to the MCU that will have long-lasting effects on it and the characters. These effects come from Thanos’ snap and if you haven’t seen the movie you, the following information is something you might want to skip until after you see it.
During a climactic moment in Avengers: Endgame Hulk uses the Infinity Stones to bring everyone back who was lost to Thanos’ snap five years prior. The world had moved on without these people and when they returned, none of them had aged.
The Russo Bros. were asked what those five years meant to the people who got dusted and why they didn’t age. This was their response:
“Yes, those people who were lucky to survive the snap are 5 years older than the people who just got back. The reason Spider Man saw his friend again in high school at the end was simply because his friends was unfortunately also dusted like Spider Man was. Of course, there are people in his grade who didn’t die and they are probably already in college by now.
“To those dusted people, they had no conscious in the past 5 years. They didn’t know what happened. It’s as if they had just woke up from a long sleep. The only one who was aware about how many years has passed was Doctor Strange, because he has already seen that when he was time mediating on Titan.
“Parker’s reunion with Ned was a touching moment. There are also people who indeed moved on but were suddenly reunited with their lost ones. Yeah it’s kind of a complicated world now.”
Yeah, the MCU would certainly be a complicated place to be a part of for both those who survived the initial snap and those who were dusted.
There are a lot of questions that I have about how the return of all these people five years later is really going to effect things. I previously wrote up a discussion post about it where I share some thoughts and bring up some questions.
I just hope that some of the future Marvel films address some of these issues, because they would make for some very interesting plot devices.
