The Russo Bros. Kick Off AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Production With a Doctor Doom Tease
It’s officially Doomsday… at least on the set of the film. Marvel Studios has started production on Avengers: Doomsday, and the Russo Brothers have shared a photo from the set, and it all starts with Doctor Doom.
The directors shared a simple Instagram post featuring another casting chair labeled “Victor Von Doom,” with the caption: “Day one…” A chair and two words, but that's all it took to light up Marvel fans online.
It marks the first day that Robert Downey Jr., now playing Doom, steps onto the set, and there’s no doubt that the Russos' have big things planned for the character.
A few days before that, Anthony Mackie also dropped an update from his Instagram Story. He posted a photo of himself on an airplane with the caption, “And so it begins…” Fans instantly connected the dots.
Mackie didn’t just tease his trip; he reassured fans who’ve been feeling a little burned by Marvel’s recent uneven run. In a previous interview, he said:
“Yeah, man, we’re kicking on down the road, so everybody’s getting excited and we’re getting the band back together. We’re supposed to go out this week and we’ll be out there doing it. Everybody’s excited.”
And Mackie put a lot of that excitement down to the creative team:
“I feel with the script and having the Russo brothers back, it’s going to be great. I’m really excited for what this project is going to be.”
He closed it out with a nod to what fans are really hoping for:
“It’s going to give the audience that old Marvel feeling that they always had.”
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
