The Russo Brothers Want a STAR WARS Project

At a recent Q&A hosted by Collider, Anthony and Joe Russo mentioned that they’d love to work on a Star Wars project. In other news, water is wet. Let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to work on a Star Wars project? The Russos were recently spotted on the set of Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian, and they seemed to really like it. I know that if I were Lucasfilm, I’d consider bringing them on. They’ve done fantastic work for the MCU, and fans loved Arrested Development. In the Q&A Joe talked about watching Empire Strikes Back a lot in theaters and raises the question of what story they would tell.

We grew up on Star Wars like everyone else did. I went to the theater when I was 11 years old to see Empire Strikes Back and sat in the theater from 11:30 in the morning until 10:00 at night and watched it back to back to back.

So it was a huge influence on us growing up. Of course we’d love to work, at some point, in the Star Wars universe, but right now our heads are in the middle of another movie.

You know, when we’re done telling stories in Marvel, then is there the opportunity to maybe go tell some other stories?

“The question would be: ’can we find a story to tell in it? And what is it?’

I’d love for them to create a new story with new characters, and please make the protagonist a non-human such as a Nautolan or Kel Dor.
