THE SANDMAN Season 2 Clips - Morpheus Has a Message for Lucifer and Orpheus’s Wedding
Netflix just dropped three clips from The Sandman Season 2, and the first one opens with a rare thing in the world of the Endless… joy.
The scene takes us to the wedding of Orpheus (Ruari O’Connor), son of Dream and the Muse Calliope, whose appearances closed out Season 1. This time, the series rewinds the timeline to a happier moment, when Orpheus marries Eurydice (Ella Rumpf).
Morpheus, Dream’s ancient name, is in attendance, along with his Endless siblings. Even Death, Desire, and Despair show up, managing not to completely ruin the vibe.
The second clip features Cain delivering a message to the ruler of Hell… Morpheus is returning to the underworld to free Nada, with or without permission.
The other is scene from "Brief Lives," as Delirium visits her’s brother in the hopes of convincing him to help her seek out another member of the Endless family who abandoned his position many years ago, Destruction.
Netflix already confirmed the episode titles for Season 2, and it's a safe bet this wedding scene ties into either Episode 4, “Brief Lives,” or Episode 5, “The Song of Orpheus.” The latter is likely where things take a darker turn. If you know the myth, you know this is not a story with a happy ending.
In the next season: “After a fateful reunion with his family, Dream of the Endless must face one impossible decision after another as he attempts to save himself, his kingdom, and the waking world from the epic fallout of his past misdeeds.
“To make amends, Dream must confront longtime friends and foes, gods, monsters, and mortals. But the path to forgiveness is full of unexpected twists and turns, and true absolution may cost Dream everything.
“Based on the beloved award-winning DC comic series, the second season of The Sandman will tell Dream’s story arc in full to its thrilling conclusion.”
According to showrunner Allan Heinberg, the goal for Season 2 is to bring the focus squarely on family dynamics. “I always thought of this as a family drama above all. There are some volumes where [Dream] just appears in two scenes.”
This wedding is more than a mythological set piece, it’s a moment to observe how the Endless relate to one another, especially in how they treat Dream’s only son. The celebration may be short-lived, but the emotional fallout will ripple across the rest of the season.
The Sandman Season 2 kicks off with six episodes premiering on July 3rd on Netflix.
