The Sci-Fi Short Film SKYWATCH Is Getting a Series Adaptation From Seth MacFarlane
Several months ago we shared a sci-fi short film with you titled Skywatch. This was a proof-of-concept film written and directed by former Pixar employee Colin Levy.
The followed a couple of outcast teens who “hack into a ubiquitous drone delivery system to pull a prank on their neighbor.” When they accidentally crash-land a dangerous drone prototype, they find themselves entangled in a life-and-death conspiracy. The short also featured a brief appearance from Jude Law.
Well, the short was actually picked up by NBC, and Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) has jumped on board to produce the project, which will be developed as a series for the Peacock streaming service.
Levy, who has also worked on films such as Inside Out and Finding Dory, and his fellow Pixar colleague Mike Sundy co-wrote a feature script based on the short film. That script will be adapted for this series. Levy is also attached to direct.
MacFarlane has been piling up the new projects lately with his overall deal at NBCUniversal. He’s also developing a World War II series titled The Winds of War and another show that will tell the story of the Little Rock Nine.
