The Screenwriter of BUMBLEBEE Knows Exactly What She Wants With a Sequel
Bumblebee screenwriter Christina Hodson did a fantastic job writing the script for the film. In my opinion, Bumblebee ended up being the best film in the franchise, and that’s because it actually had a solid script!
Well, if Paramount Pictures ends up moving forward with a sequel to the film, Hodson knows exactly what she would want to do with it. While talking to Variety, she teased:
"I know exactly what I wanna do with one. I don’t know if we’re gonna do it — we’ve got to see if audiences go and see this movie. But I know where I want to go with the next one."
While Bumblebee didn’t end up being the highest grossing Transformers movie, it was met with critical acclaim by critics and fans. I really hope we do get some kind of sequel. We know that there’s another “big Transformers” movie coming and that an Optimus Prime movie could also happen.
Director Travis Knight recently talked about the possibility of a Bumblebee sequel saying:
“I think it certainly could be. I mean, when I get to the end of one of my movies, I always imagine what's next for the characters. And so, in my mind, I've got all these scenarios and adventures that play out, both with Charlie and with Bee and everyone else. We'll see if the world wants more. Maybe we'll explore some of those things.”
I wonder if his idea for the sequel will mesh with Hodson’s idea. Hell, maybe they’ve talked about it already and they are both on the same page of how they want to proceed if a sequel happens.
If a Bumblebee sequel ever gets the greenlight from the studio, I guess we’ll find out! I imagine that won’t happen for awhile though.
Are there any other Transformers characters that you’d like to see played with in a sequel? I will say, I some point I would want to see a film completely set on Cybertron with no human characters.
