No, Paramount Pictures Has Not Stopped Making STAR TREK Movies

A report recently surfaced claiming that Paramount Pictures is no longer making any more Star Trek movies. There have been three Star Trek movies in development at the studio in various stages of development. Those include Noah Hawley’s film, Quentin Tarantino’s R-rated movie, and a third one that would reunite the cast of J.J. Abrams’ reboot.

The initial report of the entire film franchise being dead came from Giant Freakin’ Robot. This is what their inside source told them:

“Paramount is no longer in the business of making Star Trek movies. They see it more as a television property and aren’t willing to invest in future Star Trek movies anymore. If one of the shows on CBS takes off that could change, but those shows aren’t generating enough interest.”

I saw a lot of sites sharing this rumor, but to me, it seemed like it was full of crap. Star Trek is one of the biggest film franchises that Paramount Pictures owns! There is no way they are going to stop making Star Trek movies! That franchise helps keep that studio afloat.

Well, Paramount Pictures has confirmed to ScreenRant that the rumor is not true and Star Trek movies are still in development. So, we can expect to see more new Star Trek films at some point in the future.
