THE WALKING DEAD: DARYL DIXON Final Season Teaser Celebrates Daryl and Carol’s Unbreakable Bond
Daryl and Carol have survived just about everything the zombie apocalypse has thrown at them, but their journey is finally coming to an end. AMC+ has released an emotional new teaser for the fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, celebrating the friendship that has kept these two fan-favorite characters together for so many years.
The teaser debuted over the weekend at New York Comic Con, giving fans a look back at the bond between Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) as they prepare for one last adventure.
The final season premieres in February 2027 and will take Daryl and Carol across the zombie-infested badlands of Spain. After everything they've endured, the two survivors are still fighting to find their way forward, even as their future becomes increasingly uncertain.
The official synopsis reads: “Daryl and Carol grasp onto hope – and each other – as uncertainty about their future grows."
It's hard to imagine The Walking Dead universe without these two characters. Their friendship has been one of the franchise's strongest relationships, and after years of fighting walkers, losing friends, and somehow surviving impossible situations, it'll be interesting to see how their story ends.
The final season is also bringing in some new blood, with Jimmy Smits (NYPD Blue, The West Wing) joining the cast as Captain Alejandro Perkins, a former U.S. Navy officer and medical doctor who has found his own unusual way to survive the apocalypse.
The cast also includes Romain Levi, Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, Candela Saitta, and Hugo Arbués. David Zabel returns as showrunner and executive producer alongside Scott M. Gimple, Reedus, McBride, Greg Nicotero, Brian Bockrath, Angela Kang, Jason Richman, Dan Percival, and Steve Squillante.
AMC also had some good news for fans looking to revisit the franchise from the beginning. The network announced that all seasons of the original The Walking Dead series will begin streaming on AMC+ on January 7, 2027.
The flagship series will join AMC+'s The Walking Dead Universe collection, which brings together 371 episodes across the original show and its six spinoffs.
That includes Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and Tales of the Walking Dead.
Fans will also have access to exclusive specials, bonus episodes, behind-the-scenes features, Comic-Con panels, and additional content from the franchise.
Courtney Thomasma, EVP of Linear and Streaming Products for AMC Global Media, shared the following statement about bringing the complete franchise to AMC+:
“The Walking Dead continues to be one of the most popular television franchises in the world, and we’re thrilled to add the groundbreaking, original series to our flagship streaming service.
“In the new year, both dedicated fans and new audiences will be able to immersive themselves in this cultural phenomenon from the very beginning and be the first to experience the new stories from the TWD Universe, including the upcoming final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – exclusively streaming on AMC+.”
While The Walking Dead universe continues to expand, saying goodbye to Daryl and Carol's adventures together will be a big moment for longtime fans. These characters have been part of the franchise for more than a decade, and their friendship has survived more than most relationships in the apocalypse.
Hopefully, the creative team has a satisfying conclusion planned for them. After everything they've been through, they've certainly earned one.
