THE WALKING DEAD Will Be Back for Season 10, but Danai Gurira May Not Return

It was recently announced that The Walking Dead will be coming back for a tenth season. This isn’t really surprising news as AMC and the producers have said they have plans to keep the series going for another decade.

As long as they keep the stories and characters engaging and interesting, I’ll keep watching. The show still has my attention, and I’m curious to see where it goes as it continues, especially with the spinoff films involving Rick Grimes and the upcoming spinoff series that are in development.

While the series is coming back for another season, there’s one character that may not be returning. According to THR, Danai Gurira (Michonne) was in “prolonged negotiations with AMC that were further complicated by her status as a breakout actress with hits under her belt including Black Panther. It's unclear if she has signed a new deal to return.”

It wouldn’t surprise me if she did end up leaving the show. When previously talking about her future with the series, she said:

"I'll reserve my thoughts on that for now. But of course, all things ultimately wound up. Of course it'll be really hard. This will be like, the day it happens, whenever it is for me, this is family. I've grown as a human being, as a professional. I've got family and friends here that I will have for the rest of my life--which is a beautiful thing."

Obviously AMC and the production team don’t want her to leave, but there comes a time where a person just has to move on to bigger and better things. Hopefully they find a way to wrap up her story if she’s not coming back.

Will you miss Michonne if she ends up leaving the show?
